´We´ll have to work collectively to stop Mbappe´ – Southgate outlines England´s plan to deal with Fr
Gareth Southgate believes it will take a collective effort from England to stop Kylian Mbappe in Saturday s mouthwatering World Cup quarter-final against France.
Mbappe is the tournament s top scorer with five goals in four matches, including a double in the reigning champions 3-1 victory over Poland in the round of 16.
Kyle Walker is the player many believe will be chosen to deal with the power and pace of Mbappe, with the possibility that Southgate will opt to play with a back five.
The Three Lions boss does not think it will all be on Walker to stop the Paris Saint-Germain star, stating that every player will have to chip in.
He’s [Walker] been a very important player for us over the last six years, Southgate said.
Kyle is ready. We, of cou…
Leeds United defender Leigh Bromby has announced his retirement from professional football, aged 33.
Bromby last featured for United in a Championship match against Cardiff City in April 2012, in which he sustained a serious knee injury.
The centre-back, who joined Leeds in 2009 from Sheffield United, will remain involved at Elland Road though, after being appointed the club s Under-16 coach.
It s become clear over the last 14 months that I wouldn t be able to continue in a playing capacity and it s with a heavy heart that I ve decided to formally retire as a player, Bromby told the club s official website.
The club (Leeds) were good enough to allow me to gain experience last season by working with young players and I m delighted to have the opportunity to contin…

The former Spain international left his position at San Lorenzo in Argentina to take over at a club who are without silverware since 2008.
And Pizzi revealed he is delighted to have made the switch to Mestalla.
I m very happy and excited to have the chance to take Valencia to the place that it has always belonged, he is quoted as saying by Marca.
It s one of the biggest teams in Spain and Europe, and I think that it has the potential to grow and return to the place that it has always belonged.

Former Leicester City owner Milan Mandaric does not believe their incredible season will be a one-off.
Leicester will win the Premier League if they beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, marking a scarcely believable rise from relegation candidates to champions.
The Midlands club s impending title victory will be Leicester s first top-flight crown in their history.
And Mandaric who sold Leicester to Thai businessman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha in 2010 believes their success will be sustained.
Knowing those people [the owners], they will go as high as possible, he told BBC Radio Leicester.
They re very ambitious people. They re not going to give up. It s not just the money any more.
I don t think Leicester will be one of those…

The veteran footballer has been handed a new contract by the MLS side despite the fact he will be 38 next summer.
Nevertheless, the club chiefs were desperate to hold on to the former Spain international after he enjoyed a brilliant start to his career in the United States.

Leicester confirmed on their official website that the 27-year-old has agreed a four-year deal that runs until 2020 at the King Power Stadium, and while the fee has not been disclosed reports suggest that Zieler s Hannover contract contained a £3million release clause.
Zieler has six caps for Germany and was a member of the squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, although he missed out on selection for Euro 2016 after Hannover finished bottom of the Bundesliga this season.

Manchester United travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday looking for their sixth straight Premier League win over Fulham.
The reigning champions have not been beaten by the west London outfit since December 2009, when goals from Danny Murphy, Bobby Zamora and Damien Duff gave Fulham a 3-0 home victory.
United sit eight points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal following an indifferent start to life under new manager David Moyes, but they go into this clash unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions.
That run includes last Saturday s top-flight success over Stoke City, when they twice came from behind to win 3-2.
And Moyes takes his side to Craven Cottage with a near fully fit squad to choose from, with Danny Welbeck (knee) his only absentee, an…

The national governing body announced on Tuesday Low will see out his deal, which expires in 2018, and he will now concentrate on leading the holders to the World Cup finals in Russia.
