Deloitte reveal English revenue expansion

The total revenue of the clubs in the top four divisions of English football grossed three billion pounds in 2011-12, Deloitte has revealed.

The results of Deloitte s annual review of football finance were released on Thursday, and it is the Premier League which continues to the set the pace for financial growth, with the English top tier seeing earnings increase to 2.4 billion pounds a four percent rise on the 2010-11 campaign.

The Bundesliga as the Premier League s closest challenger to the crown of most profitable division in football, but the German top flight s revenue for the year was still one billion euros behind that of its English counterpart despite a seven percent rise on the previous term.
Ligue 1 was the biggest mover as the France s top competition experienced a nine percent growth in earnings from 2010-11.
However, English football is still undoubtedly the most commercially successful, as both the Premier League and Championship saw revenue increase to 476 million pounds.
